MRS. GLADYS ADAMSON

MADISON, Ala. — Gladys Louise Adamson, 94, of Madison, Ala. and formerly of Lanett, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at her residence.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec 22, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m. (CST) at the First Baptist Church Chapel, Huntsville, Ala., followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. (CST) with the Rev. Mark Seanor officiating. 

A graveside remembrance and burial ceremony will be on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. CST (3 p.m. Eastern) at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.

Mrs. Adamson is survived by her children, Deborah (John) Massey of Harvest, AL, and Anthony (Diana) Adamson of Madison; five grandchildren, Priscilla Massey (Brian) Jones of Ocala, FL, Lori Massey of New York City, N.Y., Jasmin Adamson (Samuel) Galarneau of Madison, Ala., Samantha Adamson (Andrew) Bradley of Birmingham, Ala. and Austin Adamson of LaGrange, Ky.; six great-grandchildren, Julius, Cassie, Evan, and Giselle Jones, all of Ocala, Fla.; and Evelyn and Maggie Galarneau of Madison, Ala.; and two brothers, Roger Wood of Arlington, Texas and Fred Wood of Conyers, Ga. and her sister, Thelma Smith of Tallapoosa, Ga.

Mrs. Adamson was born October 6, 1923 in Sylacauga, Ala.  She was raised and lived in Lanett, Ala. from 1929- 2004 and was employed with Lanett City School System as their Child Nutrition Program (CNP) director from 1968 to 1988.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lanett, where she sang in the choir.  In 2004 she moved to Madison, AL.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville, Ala., where she was a member of the Explore the Bible Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Charles (O.C.) Adamson, their daughter, Priscilla, and her brother, James Wood. 

The family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the Huntsville First Baptist Church in her memory.  Laughlin Service Funeral Home, Huntsville Ala. is handling the arrangements.
