Mrs. Wanda Dawn Sharpe Owens, 76, of Lanett, AL passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.  Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 4:00 PM EST from Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. F. Todd Henderson and Rev. Mike Hawkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairfax Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owens is survived by her husband of 56 years, Doyle Owens; son, Lee (Donna) Owens of Lanett; grandson, Barclay Owens of Nashville, TN; a number of nieces and nephews; cousin “sisters”, and many friends.

She was born in Langdale, AL on January 20, 1941 to the late H.V. “Bunch” Sharpe and Annie Laura Tyson Sharpe.  She retired from West Point Stevens in 1998 and was a member of Lanier Baptist Church.  She was an avid lover of birdwatching, gardening, and loved the sounds of the ocean at the beach.  She loved her family and especially her grandson, Barclay.

Always the same, sweet salt of the earth!  She had the jolliest spirit and loved her family!  Now with Jesus, whole and happy!!
