Members of the Chambers County Education Retirees Association (CCERA) had a vigorous, but fun, workout Tuesday before having their annual Christmas dinner.

Tracy Martin (at right), a SilverSneakers and yoga instructor for Valley Parks and Recreation, led them through a typical SilverSneakers-style workout.

Martin encouraged them to be passionate about working out, to set some attainable goals, to work out for 30 minutes at least three days a week. to be patient and not expect immediate results and follow the five-minute rule.

“You may not feel like exercising at first, but if you do five minutes when you get started you will get used to it. Then you can do ten minutes at a time and you go on from there.”

Martin asked them to remember four key points in fitness: (1) balance, (2) strength, (3) endurance and (4) stretching and flexibility.
