During their noon hour meeting on Wednesday, members of the Kiwanis Club of Valley received a Christmas holiday treat in the form of a trumpet duet from Gary Harris and Tommy Weldon.
They did a great job with such classics as “The First Noel,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Oh, Come All Ye Faithful,” “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World (with a bit of “Jeremiah was a bullfrog..” thrown in), “Jingle Bells,” “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,” “O Holy Night,” and just for fun, “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.”
They concluded with a really good version of “Mary, Did You Know?” with Tommy on piano and Gary doing the vocal solo.

They performed very well together despite the fact they are college rivals.
Gary played with the band at Jacksonville State and Tommy at Troy State.
They both agreed that they’re the two best college bands in the state. (Those who root for the orange and blue or the crimson and white might disagree.)
