BEULAH — The Beulah High School girls basketball team (3-7) fell at home to Beauregard on Thursday night, 33-22. Senior guard Alicia Hodges tallied a team-high 10 points for the Bobcats.

Beulah first-year head coach Sabrina Milligan, who served as an assistant at Beauregard the past few seasons, said she was impressed by her team’s stout defensive play. Scoring proved its own challenge.

The Beulah boys beat Beauregard 74-67 to improve to 4-6 on the season. Both teams will return to home action tonight against Reeltown.

REELTOWN — Three players scored in double figures on Thursday night as the LaFayette High School girls basketball team (9-8) defeated Class 2A, Area 8 opponent Reeltown, 51-42. The victory improved its area record to 3-1.

Jasmine Pitts posted 16 points, Dai Dai Walton 15 and Feliah Greer 12 for the Lady Bulldogs.

The LaFayette boys, who are ranked ninth in 2A, topped Reeltown, 56-40. The Bulldogs moved to 13-5 overall and 3-1 in the area.

Corey Boston and Matavais Burton led the way with 19 and 14 points, respectively.

The LaFayette girls and boys will return to home action tonight against rival Valley.

LANETT — Lanett High School Athletic Director Clifford Story announced on Thursday that the Panthers’ Friday home game against Sacred Heart has been canceled due to predicted inclement weather in Sacred Heart’s home county, Calhoun.

The game will be rescheduled for a later date.
