MR. LARKIN McCANTS SR.

VALLEY — Mr. Larkin Roosevelt McCants Sr., 78, of Valley, Ala. passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at EAMC-Lanier Hospital, Valley, Mr. McCants was born January 29, 1939 in Chambers County, Ala. to the late Asa and Josie Wilson McCants.

“Pig Man,” as he was called by many, received his education from Rehobeth High and Lanier High Schools. He was employed by WestPoint Pepperell before his retirement.

Mr. McCants was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.

Larkin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Billie Jean Carter McCants, and a daughter, Tracy Sabrina McCants.

He leaves to cherish his precious life: five sons, Larkin (Jane) McCants, Jr., Columbus, Ga., Terry McCants,  Trent (Chureka) McCants, Eric McCants, and Edward Shealey, Valley; six daughters, Priscilla (Michael) Hutchinson; Barbara (Charlie) Little, Valley; Sandra (Rev. Stanley) Roberts, Sr., and Jennifer Heard, all of Lanett; Kayla McKenzie, Columbus, Ga. and Debra (Vernon) Currington, Atlanta; one brother, Franklin McCants; fourteen sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a goddaughter, Rhonda Davis; a godson,Willie B. Flournoy, 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. McCants will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 12 noon at the Rehoboth Baptist Church, Valley, with the Rev. Karanja Story, Rev. Cory Huguley, Rev. Vernon Carter, Rev. Rodney Jones, and Rev Jesse Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January  31, 2018 from 6 until 7 p.m. EST at the M.W. Lee Mortuary in West Point, Ga. The remains will in in state at the Rehoboth Baptist Church on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 11 a.m. EST until the funeral hour.
