LaFAYETTE — A Roanoke man was arrested Monday for failure to appear in court (FTA) to answer several charges, one of them being attempted murder.

Vernarcy Hooks, 23, also faces charges of firing into an occupied dwelling and possession of precursor chemicals with intent to sell.

There were 149 inmates in the Chambers County jail this morning.

Lanett reports

LANETT — Two people were arrested in Lanett on Tuesday. James Lamar Malone, 37, of Lanett has been charged for FTA – two counts, traffic;

Courtland Shaheed Hall, 25, of Lanett has been charged with harassment.

In incidents reported to the Lanett Police Department on Monday, officers are investigating domestic violence, third degree on the 2000 block of North 3rd Court and theft of property, fourth degree, at the Valley Plaza Shopping Center.

Valley reports

VALLEY — One person was arrested in Valley on Monday. According to VPD reports, Michael Dennis Carter, 42, of Valley has been charged with FTA – bail jumping.

In incidents reported on Monday, Valley officers are investigating reports of harassment on the 500 block of Fob James Drive; domestic violence, third degree, on the 4600 block of 20th Avenue; domestic violence, third degree, on the 7500 block of School Street; theft of property, fourth, on the 3500 block of 20th Avenue. There’s also a report of a death investigation on the 6000 block of Cleveland Road.

West Point reports

WEST POINT — Two people were arrested in West Point on Monday. According to police department reports, Tyler Jerome Griffin of Lanett has been charged with DUI and Jamal Calvin Statham of Atlanta has been charged with possession of marijuana.
