MR. TYLER KNOWLES

VALLEY — Mr. Tyler Knowles, 70, of Valley, Ala. passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.

Tyler began his career by serving for three years in the United States Marine Corps and continued with a long-term career in law enforcement. He served as a deputy with Chambers County Sheriff’s Department and with Lanett Police Department became chief of police, investigator, and later retired as a major. Tyler was a kind-hearted man who was always willing to help others. He was devoted to his family and was a loyal friend. Tyler enjoyed sharing life stories with his family and friends.

Mr. Knowles is survived by his mother, Sarah Knowles ; his three children, Jim Knowles, Steven (Shannon) Smith, and Stephanie (Lee) Chappell; his seven grandchildren, Amber (Mike) Carter, Josh Chappell, Jonathan Chappell, Savana Smith, Jared Chappell, Jackson Chappell, and Sam Smith; his three great grandchildren, Bri Knowles, Savanah Knowles, and Bella Cofield; his sister, Millie Smith; his cousin, Angie Milner; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; a niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lynn “Honey” Knowles; his father, Floyd Knowles, and his grandparents, Effie and Roy Daniel.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 at 11 a.m. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Nathan Lawrence officiating.  Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. EST  at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
