The Lady Rebels hold a 7-1 record. On Tuesday, they clobbered East Memorial Christian Academy, 17-2, in a game shortened to four innings.

The team is led by seniors McKensie Barnes, Kelsey Oliver and Tori Harmon, along with eighth-grader Chloe Mitcham.

It will play its next game on Saturday at Kingwood Christian in Alabaster.

Although no other softball squad appeared anywhere in the rankings, two baseball teams were nominated. Beulah received consideration in Class 3A, and Valley received consideration in 5A.

The Bobcats (8-6) have won their past three games, including Wednesday’s tilt against Spencer (Ga.).

Senior Trent Lewis surrendered only three hits in a 13-3 win that was called in the fifth inning. Beulah will host Reeltown on Friday.

The Rams (8-5) fell to 6A Opelika on Tuesday, 2-0. Prior to the loss, they had won five of their last six. Valley will return to action on Thursday against Benjamin Russell.
