Dollar General robbed in Valley

VALLEY — At approximately 9:45 p.m. EDT on Thursday, officers of the Valley Police Department were called to the Dollar General Store, located in the 2900 block of 20th Avenue, in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred.

“Store employees reported that a suspect had entered the store at about 9:40 p.m. brandishing a two-tone semi-automatic pistol and demanding money from the safe and register,” Major Mike Reynolds said. “The suspect left the store after receiving the money. Neither of the two store employees were injured during the robbery.”

The suspect is described as a younger (late teens to early twenties) black male with a small afro. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark shirt. He had some type covering that obscured half of his face. After leaving the store, the suspect was seen getting into a small dark colored vehicle. It is unknown where he went from there.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE reports

LaFAYETTE — Six people were arrested in Chambers County on Thursday. According to Chambers County Sheriff’s Office reports,

Jeremiah Long, 32, of Bean Station, Tenn. has been charged with failure to appear in court to answer a charge of driving under the influence;

Darius Ricks, 28, of Valley has been charged with failure to pay for attempting to elude law enforcement;

Cordeia Williams, 29, of LaFayette has been charged with FTP – child support;

William Samuels, 29, of LaFayette has been charged with a probation violation;

Kennedy Briskey, 53, of LaFayette has been charged with public intoxication, and

Barron Anderson, 29, of Pensacola, Fla. has been charged with disorderly conduct.

LANETT reports

LANETT — Three people were arrested in Lanett on Thursday. According to Lanett Police Department reports,

Cordeia Jaquez Williams, 29, of LaFayette has been charged with giving a false name to law enforcement;

Scottie Earl Waters, 47, of Valley has been charged with burglary, third degree, and theft of property, third degree.

In incidents being investigated by Lanett officers, harassment was reported on the 1700 block of 16th Avenue SW, and duty upon striking an unoccupied vehicle reported on the 900 block of First Street.

VALLEY reports

VALLEY — Three people were arrested in Valley on Thursday. According to Valley Police Department reports,

Kendrell Anderson, 19, of Roanoke, Ala. has been charged with bail jumping, second degree;

Steven Joel Jennings, 57, of Valley has been charged with bail jumping, second degree, and

Dastana Van Robinson. 35, of West Point has been charged with domestic violence, third degree.

In incidents being investigated by Valley officers, domestic violence, third degree, was reported on the 2300 block of 34th Street, reckless endangerment has been reported on the 2000 block of 63rd Street and robbery, first degree, reported on the 2900 block of 20th Avenue.
