Kiwanis vice-president Nancy Warren Holland said the idea for the event came while the club was brainstorming ways to raise funds.

“We thought ‘Everyone loves Chick-fil-A,’” she said.

Holland added that while there will be meals available for people to walk up and purchase, the Kiwanis Club would prefer people purchase tickets beforehand due to limited availability.

Money from the sale will go toward several of the scholarships and programs the club are involved with each year.

“We have quite a few [scholarships and programs] in need of funds,” she said.

Even though this is the first year for the Chick-fil-A fundraiser, hopes are high that it will be an annual event.

“Chick-fil-A does a lot of fundraisers,” Holland said.

Club president Ryan Earnest said response has been good with about 300 ticket presales alongside a few sponsors, including EAMC-Lanier, Lifesaver, CharterBank and Renasant.

“It’s hard to say but we’d like to do this annually,” he said. “It’s too early to say but it’s likely.”

Earnest added that normally the Kiwanis Club holds a few other fundraisers, including a raffle for a Yeti cooler and a pancake day.

“Last time raffle sales weren’t so great,” he said.

You can buy your tickets from any member of the Kiwanis Club of Valley or message them on  Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/valley.kiwanis.5/.

“Come on out and support us,” Holland said.
