MRS. ANNIE S. “DEAN” HAYES

LaGRANGE, Ga. — Mrs. Annie S. “Dean” Hayes, 85, of LaGrange, Ga. passed away on Sunday March 11, 2018 at the Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Mrs. Hayes was born on October 5, 1932 in Randolph County, Ala. to the late Leon and Lillie Knight Strong.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hayes; her sister, Catherine Smith; her stepson, Roger Hayes; her sister-in-law, Jean Jernigan.

She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in West Point, Ga.

Mrs. Hayes lived in West Point and Lanett, Ala. for over 50 years. She retired from WestPoint Pepperell after 40 years of service. After her retirement, she enjoyed attending her church, visiting with her friends and family, and taking care of her “grandpets”. She moved to LaGrange in 2002 to live during her retirement years.

She is survived by her sons, Stanley D. (Marie) Hester, LaGrange, and Ronnie (Sally) Hayes, Canton, Ga.; sister, Leona Lake, Opelika; brother, John Winston Strong, West Point and numerous grandpets.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with interment following in Marseilles Cemetery in West Point,.  Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. EDT and on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
