Savior’s Hand Gospel Hour meets each week

THE SAVIOR’S HAND Gospel Hour group continues to meet each week at Sylvia Word Manor, thanks to the undying love for and leadership of Susie Fincher, W. L. Gillenwaters, Leonard Thrower and Robert Moore.

Each meeting is opened with a prayer and the Bible verse “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it” recited by the group and then followed with the singing of the chorus of that verse.

During their meeting on March 5, requests for prayer was made for Billy Williams family, Mary Morgan, James Robinson, Eddie and Shirley Alewine, Eddie Lynch, Richard Royster, Edra Waller, Paul Lott family, Carolyn VanHouten, Doris Croft and the salvation of Kyle Walker.  W. L. led the prayer for these mentioned.

The group then joined in singing the hymns “There Is a Fountain” and “At Calvary”, led by W. L. after which he sang “Won’t It Be Wonderful There?” and “Beulah Land.”

Mrs. Floy Aikens spoke on “Burdens” and how we grow spiritually through times as these saying that Jesus is there to carry our burdens for us if we ask and believe in him. She used scripture from Matthew 12, verses 28-30 as her Bible reference. She closed her remarks in prayer.

The March 12 meeting was opened with prayer by Brenda Payne. Several names were added to the prayer request list, including Rosemary DeLoach, Frances Stephens family, Corbin, Faye Crowder, Angela Crowder, Rita Fetner and Doris Croft.

Robert used scripture from II Timothy 1:9 and Romans 8:28 as reference for his devotional. W L. led in the singing of “The Way of the Cross Leads Home” and “At the Cross” after which he sang “What Are You Going to Do”. Rev. Tim Bass was the speaker this week using scripture from Mark 5:1-20 to talk about “The need for Testimonies”.

When the group met again on March 19, Brenda Payne led the prayer for those on their prayer list adding Anita Harris, Martha Gail Duke, Peggy Thrower, Larry Bain, Ken Bain, Frances Godwin, Jason and Carol Strickland, Nell Smith and Doris Croft.

Robert took his devotional this week from Romans 8: 35-39. The group sang “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us” and “I Am Resolved”.  W.L. sang “So Much to Thank Him For” and Leonard shared “A Plan” which he had written and “Life’s Railway to Heaven”.

Iris Adams was the guest speaker this week and asked the group to join her in singing “The Old Rugged Cross” after which she spoke on “Gethsemane” from the 26th chapter of Matthew. She said, “God knows exactly how he is going to do everything and he wants us to believe him. Jesus came for one reason and that was to do the will of God to lay down His life for us” . She closed her message with prayer.
