Hello Huguley friends, I am glad to see you back again today. Has it been a busy week for you? It has for us. I am getting used to seeing my column in the Saturday edition of the Valley Time News. It took some getting used to. I still need your news in on Thursday afternoon or before. Since I have to turn it in early Friday morning before I have to go to work.

Members of Vashti #431 Order of the Eastern Star dropped by the Huguley Fire Department to visit for a few minutes one day last week. As a token of appreciation for all that the department does for the community everyday they go to work, the Eastern Star group carried a huge clothes basket packed to the brim with goodies! There were enough goodies, fresh fruit, snack goodies, chips, and candy, of every type in that basket to feed the whole department for a couple of days! I hope they enjoyed the treats!

Members of the force were Sgt. Jason Reaves, Officer Asim Hicks, Officer Terrance Baldwin, Officer Skyler Humphries, Lt. Joshua Mitchell, and Chief Angie Spates. Members of the Eastern Star in the group were Worthy Matron Susan Eason, Worthy Patron Willard Eason, Associate Matron Debbie Holloway, Associate Patron Jack Wood, and Secretary Susan Wood. Thanks again for all you do!

I hope you will be at church tomorrow morning. Easter Sunday is one of the holidays that usually see a lot of folks in their ‘home church’. Even if they attend another church or do not attend on a regular basis, it seems they come out on Easter and possibly Christmas or Mother’s Day. Try to attend somewhere tomorrow morning. Most churches will be holding special services in the morning. Then possibly tomorrow afternoon, spend some time with your family. Hide an egg or two, sit on a creek bank and wet a hook, read a good book. But, remember the reason we celebrate this season.

The Happy Citizens from Happy Valley Baptist in Huguley got together last Tuesday morning for their monthly Game Day. We have such a good time every time we get together. We played some BINGO, took a few minutes for a short devotional about a young athlete giving his heart to the Lord. We then resumed playing some more BINGO. Following the game we enjoyed a delicious covered dish meal together.

Susan Eason led the group in prayer before the delicious meal. Attending were Jeri Younger, Jack and Sue Nolan, Faye Tines, Pearl Taunton, Jeanette Tilley, Susan Eason, James and Levonia Looney, Jerry and Janis Carmack. Pastor John Samanie joined us for a game or two. It’s hard to pin him down for even a few minutes!

What a treat Willard and I got this past week. BJ came over to help his Pip work in the yard for a few hours. I stayed inside and cooked lunch. I certainly do love watching men that love food tackle a big dinner. But, they sure did! And they didn’t even get sluggish when they were finished. By the time they quit, dark was falling, but we certainly made a lot of headway.

By the time this column comes out in the Valley Time News the drama Walk with Jesus that has been going on at Happy Valley Baptist for the last three weekends will be over. It was a huge blessing to everyone that took part in the drama. We had some folks in the cast to not miss a night, we had some to have to miss one and we had some to come join us the last couple of days. But, it has been wonderful for us all. I hope and pray that the hundreds that came through to see the drama were as blessed to see it as we were to present it. To our Director Mary Terry and the behind the scenes crew, we certainly thank you for all the work you put into this drama.

If you attended Huguley School in the past here is a notice you need to be made aware of. Huguley School Friends has a Facebook page you can find, you might want to join this group. They are planning a Multi-year Reunion Saturday April 21st beginning at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. From all I got there will be no money involved, no deadline to register, and no theme for the event. Just come, show up and enjoy the assembled guests.

This can be a matter of life and death. Read it carefully and share it! This is from Dr. Geetha Krishnaswamy, Please give your 2 minutes and read this:

1. Let’s say it’s 7.25 p.m. and you’re going home (alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job.

2. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated.

3. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five km from the hospital nearest your home.

4. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far.

5. You have been trained in CPR,
but the guy who taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

6. How to survive a heart attack when alone? Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

7. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

8. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.

9. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!

10. A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail kindly sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we’ll save at least one life.

11. Rather than sending jokes, please contribute by forwarding this mail which can save a person’s life.
