Approximately 150 children in the Bowen East District Head Start Center in Lanett took part in a balloon release Monday afternoon.

The release was in recognition of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month. The kids stood behind a banner that proclaimed: “There’s No Excuse for Child Abuse.”

Children at the center are between three and five years of age.

Misty Adams is the director of the Center.

There are 17 teachers, two social workers, a cook and a custodian at the Head Start center.
