Mrs. Betty Sanders

LANETT — Mrs. Betty A. “Maw Betty” Sanders, 82, of Lanett, Ala. passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her four children, Janice Coker, Kathy (Paul) Sheppard, Glenda (Milford) McClain, and Ronnie (Esther) Sanders; her brother, Jerry (Pat) Alexander; her sister, Shirley Suggs;  her fifteen grandchildren, Jennifer Ervin, Stephen (Amanda) McClain, Chasity (Mitch) Brown, Matthew (Jill) Sanders, Melissa (Sam) Phillips, Mandy Calhoun, Tamara (Ken) Oliver, Timothy (Amy) Monk, Crystal Monk, Phillip (Donna) Richardson, Jordan Richardson, Kyle Bailey, Jeremy (Mandy) Sheppard, Jonathan (Kayde) Sheppard, and Cindy (William) Lambert; her forty-nine great grandchildren and her nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Jordan Sanders; her parents, Vida Mae Alexander and Lawrence A. Alexander; her sister, Dorothy Alexander; her grandson, Josh Watts, and two great grandchildren, Gracie Jordan McClain and Abigail Elisabeth Brown.

Mrs. Sanders was born on May 24, 1935 in Lenox, Ga.  She was a member of Fredonia Community Holiness Church.  She was a very devoted and Godly woman who always put her family and the Lord first.  She loved to cook and was famous for her dressing.  She loved her family with all her heart.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. EDT at the Fredonia Community Holiness Church.  Brother Milford McClain, Sister Nancy Luke, Ronnie Sanders and Stephen McClain will officiate.  Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Sanders to the Fredonia Community Holiness Church.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff of the Kamath Medical Clinic, Chattahoochee Hospice, East Alabama Medical Center and Angie Vaughn for their compassion and support while caring for Mrs. Sanders.
