Mrs. Lucy Walker Slaughter

LaGRANGE, Ga. — Lucy Walker Slaughter, 57, of LaGrange passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018.

She was born February 1, 1961 to Louise McCullough Walker and the late, Eugene Walker in Valley, Ala.

As a child, she united with Bethlehem Baptist Church in Valley. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and used it to sing in several choirs. Later, she became a faithful member of Valley Grove Missionary Baptist Church in LaGrange,  where she continued her service for the Lord.

She was educated in the Chambers County Schools and graduated from Valley High School, Class of 1979. While in high school, she was a majorette for the Valley High band.

Her life was made all the better when she was blessed with three beautiful children:  Rod, Thomas, and Brea. She was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth Slaughter and gained two sons:  MaKeyda and Morris.

Lucy was employed by Mansour’s of LaGrange for many years. She was well known for her sweet, helpful spirit, her kindness, and her fashion! Later, she was employed by InterFace.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Kenneth Slaughter; children:  Rodriguez M. Walker, Thomas (Amaryllis) Walker, Brea S. Walker, Minister MaKeyda (Latacha) Hardnett, and Morris (Tyquisha) Slaughter; her mother, Louise Walker; brother, Gregory (Teresa) Walker; niece, Christina E. Walker; mother-in-law, Bertha Mae Brewer; aunts, Eleise Carter, Nancy Cochran, Estella Davis; uncle, William Walker; special cousins:  Shere Bias and Darryl Carter; and a host of cousins and friends.

The celebration of life service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church, 126 Grady Street, LaGrange.

The family will be at their home at 135 South Kight Drive, LaGrange.
