Ms. Nancy Duffey Cantrell

VALLEY — Nancy Carol Duffey Cantrell, 54, of Fort Worth, Texas and formerly of Valley, Ala., died on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Bettye Duffey, as well as her son, Heflin Chase Cantrell.

Nancy was a 1981 graduate of Valley High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Vocal Performance, from Birmingham Southern. While attending Birmingham Southern, Nancy was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and the Birmingham Southern Show Choir. Nancy attended Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, where she was a member of the choir and Praise Team.  She taught piano and voice lessons in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and was a member of the vocal group Mercy Rains.

Visitation will be held at the River View Baptist Church in Valley, Ala. on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. EDT until 2 p.m. EDT, with a celebration of life service to follow at 2 p.m. EDT. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. CDT on Saturday, May 12, at Leipers Fork Cemetery in Franklin, Tenn.

Survivors include sister Jennifer (Thomas) Moore; brother Dennis Duffey; nieces Amy (John) Burton, Anna (Cole) Watkins, Breanne Duffey (Jonathan Keaton), Carol (William) Yin, and Kelli (Ken) Hodge; nephews Jeremy Duffey, Zachary (Jess) Duffey, and Russell (Carla) Moore; and special friends Virginia (Brad) Reed and Michelle Mathis.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Epilepsy Foundation c/o epilepsy.com in memory of Heflin Chase Cantrell.
