A caring area

This Saturday saw another example of the caring nature prevalent among the residents of the Greater Valley Area.

Specifically, it was the car show presented to raise money for four-year-old Maddox Talley, an area native with an unfortunate list of conditions: sensory processing disorder, septo-optic dysplasia, epilepsy and hydrocephalus.

The event, a car show featuring more than 20 different vehicles with winners picked by Maddox himself, raised over $4,000 to help pay for the training of a service dog already in the boy’s possession.

The success of this event shows just how generous the people here are. Last month, it was the annual Hike/Bike/Run, held for the Valley Haven School. Then there are the continuing efforts, including those of the Christian Service Center. These are only a few examples, as the real number is too large to count.

Suffice it to say, the people here love to give to those without. The reasons for doing so are numerous, and the results speak for themselves.

If you or someone you know recently gave to a charity, you deserve a round of applause. And if anyone else is planning a way to help someone, we wish you the best of luck.

It is the sign of a good culture that makes an effort and takes the time needed to help those in who might require a helping hand.

The Greater Valley Area is one such culture.
