› The youth of Christ Missionary Baptist Church will be having a car wash at Advance Auto Parts in Valley on Saturday, June 9th. Your support and donations will be appreciated. Come out for a wash and a prayer with the youth and Pastor Robert L. Jones Jr.

› The renewal of animal licenses in the City of Valley begins on Friday, June 1, 2018. These licenses can be purchased at the city clerk’s office at city hall. The fee for the license will depend on the age of the animal and whether they have been spayed or neutered. Every animal that’s at least four months of age must have a license. If they have been spayed or neutered, the fee is $10 for animals under 12 months of age and $5 for animals older than that.

› Students entering grades two through six this fall who need assistance in reading and math may enroll in the summer math and reading lab on June 6 and 7 from 5 to 6 p.m. EDT at the L.B. Sykes Community Center in Lanett. The program dates are June 11-21 and sessions are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. Registration is required, and slots are limited. › The annual  Valley High School Combined Classes picnic will be held at the Langdale United Methodist Church Family Life Center on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. EDT. › The Touched by Suicide Support Group will meet Monday, June 4, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. CDT (6:30 p.m. Eastern) at the East Alabama Medical Center Health Education Center (across the street from the hospital). This is an informal group made up of caring individuals whose lives have been touched by the suicide of a family member or friend.

› The West Point Active Life Center is a recreation center for independent adults who are at least 55 years of age. Lunch is provided five days a week for those who are 60 and older. There’s also activities, games, billiards, quilting, exercise classes, trips and every Wednesday, FREE BINGO at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The Active Life Cenrer serves West Point and the surrounding area. Come check us out. We’re open from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The center is located at 1114 O.G. Skinner Drive, West Point. For information, call (706) 645-3580.

› The Chambers County Commission’s Public Facilities and Infrastructure Committee will meet at 2:30 p.m. CDT (3:30 Eastern) on Monday, June 4, 2018 in the Commission office in the county courthouse. The Commission’s Human Resources Committee will meet at 3 p.m. CDT (4 p.m. Eastern) and the full commission will meet at 4 p.m. on the same day.

› The Juneteenth Community Festival will be taking place on the grounds of Goodsell Methodist Church in Lanett from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. EDT on Saturday, June 9, 2018. There will be wholesome family fun, live entertainment, food and refreshments.

GriefShare, a special help seminar and small group support for people experiencing grief and loss, is being held on Sunday evenings at The Bridge Church. There will be no meeting on Sunday, June 17th, which is Father’s Day.

› The Shaver’s Pride Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 11 a.m. EDT on Saturday, June 2 in the chapter hall. All members please be present. Business of importance will be discussed.

› Bradshaw-Chambers County Library will host a Lunch N Learn program, “The History of Chambers County” with Judge Calvin Milford on Friday, June 8th at 11:30 a.m. EDT. Call (334) 768-2161 by June 7th to make a free lunch reservation.

› The Lanett City Council will meet at 6 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 4th. The Valley City Council will have their next meeting at 6 p.m. EDT on Monday, June 11th.
