Mr. DeLynn Stokes

ECLECTIC, Ala. — Mr. DeLynn Stokes, 78, of Eclectic, Ala. passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, Ala.

Mr. Stokes was born in Tyrone, Ga. on January 21, 1940 to the late Lynn Howard Stokes and Irene McElwaney Stokes. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Anna Vickery, and great-grandson, Austin Sexton.

Mr. Stokes was of the non-denominational faith.

He was a truck driver for over 60 years. He enjoyed college football, especially his Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR, and legendary country music by George Jones and Alan Jackson.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Stokes (Steve) Nelson; sons Kevin Stokes and De Stokes; brother Billy Stokes, sister Lisa Stokes Brown and grandchildren April Nelson Sexton and Tanya Nelson, great-grandchildren Barrett Sexton, Caleigh Sexton, Jeni Nelson and Brooklyn Nelson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Fairfax Cemetery. The Rev. Rusty Letson officiated. His family received friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
