Mrs. Odie Farrow Calloway

OPELIKA, Ala. — Mrs. Odie M. Farrow Calloway, 59, of Opelika, Ala. passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Bethany House in Auburn.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 12 Noon CDT at Centerview Missionary Baptist Church in Camp Hill, Ala. with the Rev. Jimmial Harrison, pastor, and the Rev.  Eric Dowdell, eulogist, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Calloway was a member of the Centerview Missionary Baptist Church in Camp Hill.  She served faithfully in many different capacities including youth director and adult choir member.  She was also a member of the Matron’s and Pearls.  She was educated in the Chambers County School System and graduated from LaFayette High School in 1976.  She continued her education at Alabama State University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education.  She was a member of the AKA Sorority, Beta Phi Chapter.  After completing college, she returned to Chambers County to teach at Southside Middle School for 25 years before retiring.  After retiring she continued with her love for education and children with Opelika City Schools as a substitute teacher and with the after-school program.

Mrs. Calloway is survived by her husband, Marcus Calloway of Opelika; a daughter, Elaina M. Calloway, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; one step-daughter, Luevenia (Tremaine) Thomas of Opelika; and one step-son, Cornelius Williams of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four sisters, Faye (Samuel) Seroyer of LaFayette, Jimmie Kate (Roger) Reid of Roopville, Ga.; Ruby (Larry) Presley of LaFayette, and Deloris Farrow of Opelika;  three brothers, Lewis Jennings of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Rev. Willie A.  (Jewel) Farrow of Shalimar, Fla. and Andre (Frances) Jackson of Birmingham, Ala.; three grandchildren, one uncle, five aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
