A job well done

It has been nearly two weeks since the family and friends of Cassandra Hutchinson first alerted us at The Valley Times-News that they were holding a fundraiser to help with medical expenses.

Hutchinson has been in a diabetic coma since June 29 and the money raised will go toward medical care, transport to and from the hospital for her parents and other costs that have accrued.

Everyone involved in this effort has been sure to keep us at the paper up to date on their efforts. This is obviously done so we can be there to document the process from start to finish and that’s OK.

They have called our office to let us know this was happening. They came up here to tell us the day for the fundraiser was nearing. Calls and emails came in reminding us that we were welcome to visit while they prepared the food. The list goes on and on.

The work paid off and the group raised over $1,500 by selling plates and taking donations from about 200 people.

These people are true friends that want others to come out to help support someone in need. There have already been two fundraisers and in all likelihood, there will be others like it. Thankfully for Hutchinson, she has people looking to help out.
