Mr. Jack “Jackie Boy” Phillips

LaFAYETTE —Mr. Jack “Jackie Boy” Phillips, 71, of LaFayette, Ala. passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.

Funeral services were scheduled for 12 noon EDT on Friday, August 17 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Valley with the Rev. R.L. Carter, senior pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery. The body was lying in state one hour prior to the service. Visitation took place on Thursday, August 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT at the funeral home.

Jack was born to the union of the the late John Ed Phillips and Jessie Mae Ware. He departed this life to be with his late fiancée, Helen Billingsley, and son, Enrice “Mexico” Billingsley.

Jack was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Beatrice Williams, and brothers John Will, Henry, and Leroy Wickerson.

He leaves to cherish his memories six daughters: Bettie Avery Woody (Tommie), Shbresha Billingsley, Kathy Wright, Julia K. Phillips, Maurine Moore (Robert), and Kirenda Billingsley, all of LaFayette; four- sons: Marshall Briskey (Angela) and Adrian Billingsley, both of LaFayette, Jeremiah Spence (Naimah), Opelika, and Jermaine Darwin, Montgomery, Ala,; siblings Vanessa Allen (Henry) of Mississippi, Peppi Wickerson (Annie), Willa Wickerson and Alvin Wickerson of Illinois; Theresa Wickerson, Georgia and Cynthia Carson (LeeKwan) of Wisconsin; a special granddaughter, Ashla Moore; thirty-six grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
