Mrs. Alice Hutchinson

LANETT — Mrs. Alice Catherine Storey Hutchinson, 88, of Lanett, Ala. passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the EAMC-Lanier Nursing Home in Valley, Ala. She was born on June 10, 1930 in Rome, Ga. to the late Charlie Frank Storey and Gertrude Skelton Storey.

Mrs. Hutchinson is survived by her four children, Linda Gauntt, Brooks (Vikki) Hutchinson, Don (Susan) Hutchinson, and Chuck (Susan) Hutchinson; her seven grandchildren, Hunter Gauntt, Rob Gauntt, Brannon Hutchinson, Kelli Karanovich, Chrissi Bryan, Koda Purvis, and Jack Purvis, and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. R.S. Hutchinson; her son, Stan Hutchinson; her daughter, Cathy Hutchinson; her granddaughter, Heather Gauntt; her brother, Frank Storey, and her son-in-law, Ronnie Gauntt.

Mrs. Hutchinson was a very active member of Lanett First United Methodist Church, where she was a youth minister for many years. She was an avid University of Georgia fan who enjoyed going to the beach, sewing, and reading. She was a Cub Scout den mother for a number of years and was awarded the Silver Fawn by the Boy Scouts of America for her service. She loved nursing and helping people. She liked to write encouraging letters to patients and friends.

Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. EDT at the Lanett First United Methodist Church. The Reverends Reid Turner and Donnie Erwin-Brown officiated. A graveside service followed in Highland Cemetery in Piedmont, Ala. The family received friends Thursday morning from 10 a.m. EDT until the service hour at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Hutchinson to the charity of one’s choice.
