WEST POINT — Work resumed Monday on the construction of two Chattahoochee Fuller Center Project homes. No. 41 is being built on Huguley Road in Valley, and Doug Dewberry is the house captain with members of the First Baptist Church of Valley are doing the work. No. 41 is on East 7th Street in West Point, Mayor Steve Tramell is the house captain and employees of Norbord and Knauf and volunteers from the West Point First United Methodist Church are on site taking care of all the interior details.

“We are staying busy,” said CFCP Executive Director Kim Roberts. “It’s amazing. This will be nine new houses we’ve done in 24 months. What’s special about what we’re doing now is that we are building two houses at the same time with everything being done by local volunteers.”

The exterior Hardie board went up on both houses on Monday. The paneling has been painted gray,  and each house will have black shutters near the windows.

No. 42 will be the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rozell Dardy. It’s known as the Cliff Glover House, with sponsorship being provided by Glover’s family and friends. Glover, who passed away a few years ago at age 103, was a member of West Point Methodist. The Dardys are members of the church as well.

Roberts said that all the exterior painting should be done by the end of the day on Tuesday.

CFCP No. 41 in Valley will be the home of Tiffany Roberts and her school-age son.

Kim Roberts said she’d been most impressed by the work that’s been done by members of the First Baptist Church of Valley. They’ve been working a 3-9 p.m. shift this week so that those who work during the day can help out in the evenings. CFCP No. 42 is on a 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. work schedule.

Plans are to have two home dedication ceremonies on Friday afternoon. No. 41 will be dedicated in Valley at 3 p.m. with the West Point ceremony taking place at 5 p.m.

“This has been quite a week and quite a year,” Roberts said.
