LANETT — Like all other stores in the Atlanta Division, which spans Georgia, South Carolina and Eastern Alabama, Lanett’s Kroger will be hosting a job fair Saturday, Oct. 6.

In an effort to fill more than 600 full- and part-time positions for the holiday season, the grocery store chain said in a press release, the stores will be doing events like these with plans to hire quickly after initial interviews.

“There are quite a few positions that we are hiring for,” said Kristine Hood-Duffie, administrative assistant in human resources for the Lanett location. “We will be setting up outside because we expect it to be quite big this time.”

Hood-Duffie said that previous mass hiring events have brought in 40 to 50 applicants in the five-hour span. Tables will be set up for people who have already applied online and those who need to do so when they arrive.  The division-wide event is to add to the Kroger workforce of over 29,000 employees in the Atlanta Division alone, according to a press release from the company.

“Kroger is committed to creating job opportunities for our current and future employees,” corporate affairs manager for the Atlanta Division, Felix Turner, said in the release. “Our continued growth allows us to provide our communities with hard-working, customer-centered associates who create the exceptional shopping experience our customers expect and deserve, especially as we enter the holiday season.”

Hood-Duffie said that the Lanett store is looking to hire for all positions including cashier and courtesy clerk, deli clerks, meat department and produce staff, some referred to as the outer departments.

“One of the main things that we need for the outer departments, so everything except for cashier and courtesy clerks, we need people that can work normally in the afternoons and who can work to 10 at night,” she said.

Those interested in applying need to be at least 16-years-old, and those interested in working at the fuel center 19. The job fair event will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. E.T.
