MR. DENSON “DEMP” BAILEY

VALLEY — Mr. Denson “Demp” Bailey, 91, of Valley died at his residence on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018.

At an early age, Mr. Bailey joined Antioch Baptist Church in LaFayette, Ala. He later united with Zion Rest Baptist Church in Valley, where he was a devoted servant of God. He served faithfully for many years on the deacon board. Because of his love for the word of God, he enjoyed serving in several roles at the church.

Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge upon leaving the service. He returned home to Valley and worked at Langdale Mill for 33 years before retiring. It was his gift to bring happiness and laughter to those around him. He was given to a peaceful nature and a loving disposition.

He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories and to carry on his legacy a loving and devoted wife, Dorothy Mae Bailey, Valley; three daughters, Kathy Thomas, Kecharyl Thomas and Latoya Thomas, all of Valley; a special grandson and caregiver, Janearias Thomas; two sisters-in-law, Vivian Ousley, Leeds, Ala. and a special sister-in-law, Annie Laura Clayton Bailey Reed of Lanett; one brother-in-law, Alfonso Ousley of Leeds, Ala., 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at Zion Rest Baptist Church in Valley with the Rev. Fredrick Stanley, pastor and eulogist, Rev. Charles Magby, Rev. Henry Cooper, and Rev. John Flournoy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation took place from 1 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at Foreman Funeral Home in Valley.
