Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Thrower

VALLEY — Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Thrower, 77, of Valley, Ala. passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at the EAMC-Lanier Nursing Home.

Mr. Thrower was born on June 13, 1941 in Smiths Station, Ala. to the late John Floyd Thrower and Clare Louise White Thrower.

Mr. Thrower was a member of the Johnson Chapel Baptist Church. He loved his church and his church family and enjoyed the many trips that they made together to the mountains.

He was an avid University of Alabama football fan and an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

He worked for and retired from the City of Roanoke in the maintenance department.

Mr. Thrower is survived by his brothers, Harvey Gene (Wandra) Thrower, James Floyd (Dorothy) Thrower, Billy Rex (Sonja) Thrower; nieces and nephews, Ricky (Paige) Thrower, Sandra (Brian) Miller, Tina Alewine, Teresa (Steve) McQuiston, Paulina White, Rhona Shelander Gordy, Rodney Shelander; 13 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 3 p.m. EDT at the Johnson Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Langley officiating.  Mr. Thrower will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.  The family will be receiving friends at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley Thursday evening from 6 p.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT.
