Ms. Rosie Doritha “Rose” Morgan

WEST POINT — Ms. Rosie Doritha “Rose” Morgan, 60, of West Point, Ga. passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 at EAMC- Lanier Hospital in Valley, Ala. Ms. Morgan was born Nov. 2, 1958 in Chambers County, Ala.

Rose accepted Christ and was baptized at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lanett, Ala. at an early age. She was clothed with strength and dignity and laughed without fear of the future. Rose enjoyed every minute of life.

She received her formal education in the West Point Public School System. She worked at Mulberry Creek Elementary School, Harris County, Ga. for sixteen years, GFA, Inc. for six years, and at the time of her death, she was currently employed at Long Cane Middle School.

Rosie always knew how to put a smile on your face, whether it was with a joke, her many sayings, dancing, or her laughter. There was never a dull moment when you were in her presence. She enjoyed being with family and friends, watching wrestling on Monday nights, cooking, taking pictures and it was always a good time to fire up the grill.

Rose was pre-deceased by her parents, John David and Rachel Cox Morgan Sr., her brothers, Walter Lee Morgan and John David Morgan Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Erica (Cote) Carter, Fortson, Ga., Stephanie (Jeremy) Bacon, Yuma, Arizona and Christy (Kerry) Eubanks, Columbus Ga.; seven grandchildren, Cheridan Carter, Winter Park, Fla., Chynna Carter, Carrollton Ga., Kylan Morgan, Jashawn Bacon, Gabriela Caro and Autumn Bacon all of Yuma, Ariz. and Kerryeun Davis, Columbus Ga.; three brothers, David (Alice) Morgan and Sammie (Lisa) Morgan, all of West Point Ga. and Gary (Carolyn) Morgan, Lanett Ala.; four sisters, Constance Morgan, Nadine Morgan, Linda Morgan, and Mechelle Morgan, all of West Point; a nephew that she treated as her own, Justin Morgan, West Point; her long-time companion, Mr. John Burton, LaFayette Ala.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and Mary Stafford and the Stafford Family.

A homegoing celebration for Ms. Morgan will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at 1 p.m. EST at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Lanett with the Rev. Frederick James, Ph.D, pastor, serving as the eulogist and Rev. Leonard Autry and Rev. Larry Williams assisting.

Interment will follow in the Marseilles Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 from 12 noon until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the M.W. Lee Mortuary.
