WEST POINT — Jennifer Andrea Burton, affectionately known as Punk, was born on May 4, 1946 in West Point to Anderson and Johnnye Mae Burton. She departed this life on Feb. 10, 2019, at her home.
Jennifer was raised in West Point, but later made her way to New Brunswick, New Jersey. She became a vital part of the New Brunswick Public Housing Authority in the Robeson Village community, where she lived and acted as president of the Tenant Council Association.
She retired from her career in juvenile corrections and made her way back to Georgia to be closer to her daughter and other family members. She became an active member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
She loved to spend time with her friends and family and most of all her grandchildren. There was nothing that Grammy wouldn’t do for them. She was ever present in their daily lives, regularly attending school events, birthday celebrations and enjoying vacations as a family.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Anderson and Johnnye Mae Burton; her caring brother, Donald Burton, and sister, Constance Howard.
Jennifer Burton leaves to cherish in her loving memory: her daughter, Kersa Potts (Jonathan), Smyrna, Ga.; 3 grandchildren, Devyn, Jason and Logan; her sister, Cherie Ruffin (James), Marietta, Ga.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
