Beulah baseball team nominated in AWSA poll

Published 10:23 pm Thursday, March 28, 2019

The Beulah baseball team (11-5, 2-1) was nominated again in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) baseball prep poll. The Bobcats have been nominated in the 3A classification for each week of the poll this season, but have yet to break into the top 10 yet.

Beulah head baseball coach David Russell previously said that he isn’t too worried about the association’s rankings because many voters haven’t watched the team play this season.

Before ASWA began releasing polls this spring, the Prep Baseball Report ranked Beulah as high as No. 9 in 3A after starting 3-0.

Before going on spring break this week, the Bobcats swept B.B Comer in a doubleheader 13-5 and 12-7. The sweep gave Beulah a 2-1 series win over the area opponent. The Bobcats return to action on April 1 to face Wadley on the road before going back into area play against Dadeville on April 3.
