LaFAYETTE — Mr. Huey Slay, 89, of LaFayette died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Bethany House Hospice in Auburn.

Mr. Slay was born in Chambers County on Oct. 10, 1929, to the late Simmie James Slay and the late Mabel Moon Slay. He attended the New Hope Christian Church in Wadley and also attended the Lebanon Presbyterian Church in the Buffalo community. He was retired from the Tom Williams Buick Dealership in Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 8, 2019, at noon CST at the New Hope Christian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Zenus Windsor will officiate.

Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until noon, prior to the service.

Mr. Slay is survived by his wife, Lois Shockley Slay of LaFayette; three children, Bonnie (Bill) Leigh of Tuscaloosa, Paul (Jane) Slay of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mark (Beth) Slay of Opelika, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
