ANDERSON, S.C., — Mr. Patrick “Van” Thompson, 63, of Anderson, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at his residence, after an extended illness.

Mr. Thompson was born in Langdale on March 2, 1956.  He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne R. Thompson.

He was a former member of the Fairfax First Baptist Church and a 1974 graduate of Valley High School.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Hamilton Thompson; mother, Wilma Thompson; stepchildren Jared Nelson and Cheryl Cyphers; his brother, Dave Thompson; six step-grandchildren, and an uncle, Randy Willingham.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 2 p.m. EDT at the Fairfax Cemetery.  The Rev. Chuck Goodwin will officiate. His family will be receiving friends in the cemetery following the graveside service.

The family respectfully declines the honor of flowers and requests that memorials be made in his memory to the Chattahoochee Humane Society.
