Ms. Carolyn Brooks

LaGRANGE — Carolyn Brooks of LaGrange, and formerly of Valley, departed this life on Friday, March 22, 2019, at Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw, Georgia. A native of Birmingham, she was the daughter of George W. and Betty A. Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Zion Rest Baptist Church in Valley, Ala. The Rev. Frederick Stanley, pastor and eulogist, will preside.
Carolyn was the oldest daughter of ten children. She received her education in the Chambers County School System. She was formerly employed with Lanier Health Services, Point University and Chambers County School System as a substitute teacher. She is survived by two children, Sherwonna T. (Keith) Brooks of LaGrange and David L. Brooks of West Point; two grandchildren, Chantriss T. Render and Octavia Dardy; her companion, Billy Favors; mother, Betty A. Brooks of Valley ; three sisters, Carrie M. Brooks of Lanett; Belinda A Brooks of Valley, Marilyn D. Winsley of Opelika; brothers Michael Chapman, Curtis D. Brooks of Lanett, Ronnie C. Brooks of Valley; a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, sister-in-law Nadine Brooks, stepchildren Debra (Darryle) Mallory, Patricia (Richard) Thompson, Tamela (Michael) Williams, Tawanda (Warren) Cameron, Felicia (Demetrius) Talley, and Billy (Yashica) Favors. She was preceded in death by her father, George W. Brooks, sisters Teresa and Kathy Brooks and a brother, Willie Brooks.
