WEST POINT — The 25th annual Peach Walk for Valley Haven School, held Friday afternoon, May 3, was another successful fundraiser for the annual Hike/Bike/Run.

It took place on the James A. Hardy Walking Trail at the Georgia Visitor Center on I-85. The participants earned pledges while walking in memory of Mr. Hardy, a former teacher and coach at Lanett High School.

The walking trail was dedicated on Feb. 10, 1995.

After retiring as an educator, Hardy worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, West Point Project, and designed four other walking trails at Hardley Creek Park.

He marked the way along sidewalks with different colored outlines of his own feet.

Both took part in the 2019 Peach Walk.

Eric Stamps, Hall Memorial CME, Valley; Maudie Taylor, St. James Baptist, Lanett; Johnny Nelloms, New Hope Missionary Baptist, Lanett; Joe Hughley, Ebenezer Baptist, Lanett; Brenda Jones, Greenwood Baptist, Lanett, and Janice Cumberlander, St. John Community Baptist, Lanett.
