Mr. Joey Hood, 43, of Lanett, passed away unexpectedly on July 14 at the EAMC Lanier Hospital in Valley.

Hood was the son of Lee and Lucita Hood, husband to Cherry Hood and father to Jasmine, Jolee, Alex and Baby Hood expected to arrive in January. He was grandfather to Paisley Crowe and Alyson Meadows. In the words of his mother and father in law (Alan and Brenda Wilson), he was “The best son in law in the world.” Hood had one biological brother, Wesley Hood, but an uncountable number of brothers and sisters that he held extremely close to his heart. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that loved their uncle Joey and that had his unconditional love as well.

Hood loved the Crimson Tide football. He was an avid gun and knife collector. He loved Ford Mustangs of any year.

Hood loved his wife dearly, as well as his children and his grandchildren. Hood was a loyal friend to all he loved and called his friend. To most, he was not just a friend, but he was a brother, and he shared that same unconditional love with each of them. He was very devoted to the friendship that remained between the mother of his children and her husband, Stephanie and Kelley Camp.

Hood left behind a brightness that will never fade with all that he loved.

A celebration of Hood’s life will be held on July 19 at 7 p.m. EDT at the Adams’ residence. The address is 2351 Fairfax Bypass, Valley 36854. There will also be a benefit held in Hood’s memory at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the friends kindly ask that donations be made to his family in his memory. There are two Go Fund Me pages established where donations can be made to help his family. For more information regarding the donations, you can contact Cherry Hood or Stephanie Camp.

Please visit his Memorial Tribute page at www.johnsonbrownservicefh.com to leave a kind word for his family, share a memory of a photo of Hood, or to light a Remembrance Candle in his memory.
