Mr. R. Russell Eastridge — 1940-2019

Mr. R. Russell Eastridge, 79, of Opelika, passed away on July 6 at his residence.
Eastridge was born in Opelika on April 13, 1940, to the late Robert G. Eastridge and Ruby Williams Eastridge. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Eastridge; brothers, Roy and Bud Eastridge. Eastridge was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Opelika.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan. He enjoyed woodworking, and in his younger and
more active years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He worked for Ampex and retired from Uniroyal.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Ricky) Bingham; sisters, Elsie Siggers, Jean (Boyd) Barfield, Lois Murphy; brothers, Joe (Carol) Eastridge, Glenn Eastridge, Jim (Diane) Eastridge; grandsons, Tyler and Trent Bingham; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on July 10 at 11 a.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Shady Grove Cemetery. The Rev. R. L. Cole and the Rev. Nyhl Ivyn officiating. His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. EDT until the service hour.
