Construction officially began on Friday with the demolition of the current Fire Department Training Center, located on Hamilton Road.
The SPLOST V project plans will involve the construction of a new, about 6,000 square foot facility.
According to the news release, the new space will offer several administrative offices and Troup County’s emergency operation center, as well as a unified classroom/training space for paid and volunteer firefighters.
The next phase in the construction process will involve site work, including the removal and disposal of demolition debris, site grading and building pad preparation before moving to structural work.
According to the news release, the predicted completion date is spring 2020.
