Mr. John Alvin Askew, Jr. — 1942-2019

John Alvin Askew, Jr., of Pensacola, Florida, passed in peace on Aug. 10. Johnny was born on May 19, 1942, in LaFayette. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, Alabama football and Nascar fan. He spent four years serving his country in the U.S. Army. Johnny also loved his family and will be missed dearly by all who he greeted with a Roll Tide! 

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Askew; and brother, Wesley (Buck) Askew. 

Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Melisa Askew (Charles) and Shane Adams (Tammy); grandsons, Taylor Williams, Matthew Adams and Jonathan Adams; four great-granddaughters; his sisters, Linda Pitman and Diane Palmer; brothers, Phillip Askew and John David Askew; aunt, Olene Abney; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Fairfax Cemetery in Valley. The family will receive friends at the cemetery prior to the service. Everyone will assemble at the gravesite. 

Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley is entrusted with arrangements.
