Mr. Charles Michael “Mike” Gragg — 1949-2019

Charles Michael “Mike” Gragg, 70, of Jasper, passed away on Sept. 17 at his residence.
Family will receive friends on Sept. 19 from 1 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel. David Bradshaw and Alan H. Beasley will officiate.
Mike was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He grew up in the Inglewood area and graduated from Isaac Litton High School, where he was a proud member of the “Marching 100+” band. Following graduation, Mike went to work for South Central Bell as a lineman. Thus, began a long and successful career in telecommunications. With Bell, he worked his way up, joining the marketing department in 1974. He became a sales manager and, later had the opportunity to land what he thought was his “dream job.” He became an instructor at the South Central Bell Sales Training Center in Birmingham. After several years, he moved to South Central Bell’s Corporate Headquarters. In 1991, Mike and his family moved back to Nashville where Mike became a division sales manager.
In 1993, Mike had an extraordinary opportunity that took him and his family to Lanett. He became President of Knology, Inc. He remained in that position until his retirement in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Denton Gragg; and his mother, Mary Swann Umberger.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judith “Judy” Brandon Gragg; daughters, Krista Gragg Dickinson, and her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Nelson Dickinson, Lindsey Gragg Moore and her husband Jarod Bryan Moore; grandchildren, Mary Charles Dickinson, Ann Barkley “Bebe” Dickinson, Charles Parker Moore, Robert Baker Moore and Bryan Tucker Moore; and a host of friends.
