The Springwood Wildcats (2-1) gave up a first-half lead to lose at Lowndes (3-0) 31-17.
“For the most part, I thought we played well on defense and special teams,” Springwood head football coach John Gartman said. “Offensively, we made some plays late in the first half, but couldn’t sustain anything in the second half. The players played hard. I just didn’t put them in position to win.”
Springwood led Lowndes 17-13 at the half.
Chalyb Lenker and Andre Mills led the team with 11 tackles each.
Offensively, senior quarterback Jordan Plank led Springwood with 73 rushing yards on 18 carries. Junior fullback O.J. Tolbert finished the night 16 yards.
Springwood begins region play next week at Edgewood Academy.
