VERBENA — The 1A No. 3-ranked Lanett Panthers (8-0, 5-0) kept its perfect record intact on Friday night after a 40-0 win over Verbena (1-7, 0-5).

The Panthers have now defeated their last two opponents by a combined score of 82-0 with the latest victory after earning a 42-0 win on the road at Loachapoka last week.

As the Verbena win concluded a three-game, four-week road trip, Lanett returns home next Friday for senior night. The Panthers will host region-opponent Billingsley (5-3, 4-1) in the matchup.

The winner will decide if Lanett is the outright 1A Region 4 champion or if the program ties with the Bears.

Lanett has won two-consecutive region championships, including the 2A Region 5 championship during the 2017 undefeated run.

Billingsley is coming off of a 37-14 loss to Notasulga (5-3, 4-1) on Friday night, which also puts the Blue Devils in a region-title tie if Lanett losses to the visitors next week.

In 2018, Billingsley was shut out 42-0 to the Panthers.
