Mrs. Auberlene J. Cole — 1945-2019

Mrs. Auberlene J. Cole, 74, of Lanett, passed away on Oct. 26 at the Bethany House in Auburn. 

Mrs. Cole was born in Langdale on Sept. 14, 1945, to the late John Frank O’Neal and Mattie Mae Thomas O’Neal. 

Mrs. Cole was also preceded in death by three children, Linda Smallwood, William Lee Langley and James Edward Langley; siblings, Pete O’Neal, Shirley Kittrell, LaVerne Spradlin, Peggy Griffin, Barbara Carrol, Gladys Crowder and Mary Delee.

She is survived by her husband, Nathan Cole; children, Lawson Cole and his wife, Doris J. Cole, Donna Whatley and her husband, Jeff Whatley; siblings, Jean O’Neal, James O’Neal and Patricia O’Neal; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Cole worked in the deli at both Wal-Mart in Valley and Kroger in Lanett. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake for family gatherings and family trips and outings. She loved working word puzzles, country and gospel music and reading her collection of books. 

Graveside services will be held on Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. EDT at the LaFayette City Cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT.
