Mrs. JoAnn Emory Butts, 80 of Salem, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus. She was born in Columbus on March 18, 1939, to the late Mattie and William Charles Emory.

Mrs. Butts is survived by her six children, Gene Emory, Deborah Kay (Ronny) Roe, Danny Ray (Mary) Mitchell, John Mitchell, Kenny (Joan) Mitchell, and Sue Douglas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Butts; her parents; and her daughter-in-law, Catherine Mitchell.

Mrs. Butts was a very loving woman who was friends with all she met. She would always help anyone in need.
