The Troup County School Board re-elected its chair and vice-chair at a short meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

Kirk Hancock was reappointed chairman, a title he was first selected for at the beginning of 2019. Allen Simpson was re-selected as vice chair.

“I am willing to continue to serve, if you would like, in the role of chair, and I know Rev. Simpson would be willing to serve for the next year,” Hancock said.

The motion passed unanimously.

“You both are doing a great job, and I think we could use the continuity right now,” said board member Cathy Hunt.

The decision was made two minutes into the special called meeting. The board then went into executive session to hear a student discipline appeal.

The school board will meet again on Monday for its first work session of 2020 at 5:30 p.m. at 100 North Davis Road.

The agenda for that meeting is generally released on Fridays on its website. For more information about the school system visit Troup.k12.ga.us.
