Chambers County heading to AHSAA playoffs

With LaFayette’s win against Ranburne on Friday, Chambers County is officially in the Alabama High School Association State Basketball Tournament.

Of the eight AHSAA teams, four teams won their individual areas and will host a sub-regional game. Two other teams lost in their championship games, which means they will travel for their sub-regional game.

Beulah girls

The Bobcats hosted the 3A, area 7 tournament. In their first game, they were able to blow out Randolph County 44-20. They struggled to score early in the championship game against Dadeville, losing 46-33.

With the loss, the Bobcats will travel for the sub-regional. They will play the winner of Pike Road-Montgomery Academy, which was played on Friday night.

Lanett girls

The Panthers traveled to Loachapoka for the 1A area 6 tournament. They soundly defeated Notasulga 57-38 on Tuesday. In the area championship, they faced host Loachapoka and lost 42-27.

Lanett will travel to West Minister-Oak Mountain on Monday.

LaFayette girls

LaFayette started the season off slow, but it got hot at the right time. The Bulldogs had to travel to Ranburne to play the 2A area 9 tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Horseshoe Bend 57-41 in their game on Tuesday and defeated Ranburne 51-38 in the championship game.

The Bulldogs will host the winner of Friday’s Sacred Heart-Westbrook Christian game in a sub-regional game on Monday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. EST.

Valley girls

The Rams won the regular-season area, which allowed them to host the 5A area 4 tournament. They survived an upset bid from Beauregard on Tuesday, winning 67-64 and defeated Brewbaker Tech 57-44 to win the area tournament.

Valley will host Greenville on Monday at 8 p.m. EST in the sub-regional game.

Lanett boys

The Panthers hosted the 1A, area 6 tournament. They blew out Wadley 80-30 on Tuesday and took out Notasulga 84-45 in the championship game on Thursday.

They will host Westminster-Oak Mountain at 7:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday.

LaFayette boys

The No. 1 Bulldogs dominated the 2A, area 9 tournament. On Wednesday, they defeated Woodland 87-38. On Friday, they won the area tournament by defeating Ranburne 86-20.

They will host the winner of Sacred Heart vs Westbrook Christian on Tuesday.
