Monique “Nee Nee” McBride was born July 7, 1976, to the parents of Evander and Mary D. McBride (Sims). She departed this life on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at The Palliative and Comfort Care Unit in Birmingham, Alabama.

Monique confessed Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church, Valley.

She was a member of the Red Circle, Junior Choir and attended Sunday School. She later united with Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Eugene Cooks.

“Nee-Nee,” as she was known, received her education in the Chambers County Public School System, where she was a member of the Valley High School 1994 graduating class. She was a member of the color guard. She attended Southern Union and Chattahoochee Valley Community College. She was employed at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika, and Heart and Cardiovascular Center in Auburn.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Johnny and Mary Chambers, uncle, John Titus, and aunt, Priscilla Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories:her sons, D’marius “Tony” McBride, Fort Benning, Georgia; Javin Carlisle, and Jace Carlisle, Lanett; mother, Mary (Grover) Sims, LaGrange, Georgia; father, Evander McBride, Lanett; sister, Tina McBride, Valley; aunts: Gloria Bailey, Valley, Mary Bolden, Dorothy McBride, Atmore, Elizabeth Chambers, Valley, Bobbie Vincent Farmington Hills, Michigan, Louise Walker, Valley, AL; Affie Chambers, uncles: Johnny (Piper) Chambers, Valley, Willie B. Johnson, Valley, Dr. Ulysses (Mable) McBride, Atmore, William (Annie Ruth) Walker; 1 nephew, Koreyan D’Andre McBride, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; best friends: Ebony Jarrell, Yolanda Kelley-Smith, and Yvette Preston; special friend, Jermaine “Bennie” Carlisle and a host of cousins and relatives.

A celebration of life service for Ms. McBride will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Dr. Jesse Walker, Pastor, Eulogist,  the Rev. R. L. Carter, Rev. Allen Simpson, III and the Rev. W. G. Wimberly, assisting. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The remains will lie in state at the church on Sunday on hour prior to the funeral hour.
