Ms. Annie B. “Hanna” Landers Ridgeway, age 65, of Lanett, gained her wings on Monday, March 6, 2020, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika. Annie was born on March 3, 1955, to the late J D Landers Jr. and Bessie Mae Wilson Landers in Chambers County.

Ridgeway or “Hanna”, as she was known to her family and friends, was a humorous character. Being in her presence you were sure to get a good laugh. She was employed with Lanett Geriatric Center for more than 20 years as a kitchen cook.

Ridgeway attended Drew High School and Valley High School. Her favorite sport was softball. She was an avid softball player. She was one of the MVPs for the Drewlettes Softball Team. She loved traveling to different places to play softball.

Ridgeway joined the Mount Hermon Baptist Church at an early age, where she was a faithful member. She was dedicated to the Usher Board, Nurse Guild, and the Missionary Society. She loved attending church services.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie E. Ridgeway and her best friend, Beverly Harper Davenport, who was like a sister to her.

Ridgeway leaves to cherish wonderful memories: a loving and devoted daughter, Tremeka Cooper (Jarvis); two deeply loved grandchildren, La’Terrance Hutchinson and Jarbias Cooper (Anika); two great grandchildren, Terrance D. Hutchinson and Londyn M. Hutchinson; three special sons, Derrick Truitt, Morris and Norris Walker; three brothers, Walter Landers(Mary), Jessie Truitt, and Russell Landers; seven sisters, Ruby T. Hodnett (Leon), Catherine Milford, Peggy Pollard, Wendy Beasley, Jarvis Beasley, Deborah Jennings and Kim Baskerville; one uncle, Arthur Landers (Dorothy); three aunts, Nettie Dawson, Louise Rudd and Bessie Johnson; one great aunt,  Gussie Wilson; two brothers-in- law, Emanuel Ridgeway and Eddie Ridgeway (Lula); two sisters- in-law; Dorothy Ridgeway and Mary Ridgeway; eight cousins, she loved as sisters; Denise Zachery, Sharliss Flournory, Luevonia Flournory Lelia Rudd, Mattie Gibson, Sandra Brooks, Lois Smith and Abodella  Flournory; and array of nieces and nephews, family members, love sons and daughters; Life-long devoted and dedicated friends,  Jerome Mccullough, Barbara Autry, Laella Davis, Shelby Flakes, Doris Bonner,  Wanda Faye Davis and the Harper Family, loyal neighbor Kenneth Sanders Sr.

Due to current restrictions, a private graveside service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the Pinehill  Cemetery with the  Dr. Lamar D. Johnson, officiating.  A  Memorial Service will be held at a later date. There will not be a public viewing.
