Mr. Henry Venson Hurst of LaFayette passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. He was 83.

Venson, as he was known, was born Feb. 23, 1937, in LaFayette to Denson and Maudie Hurst. After graduation from LaFayette High School, he married his sweetheart Wilma, worked in the insurance and textile industries and raised three children. He was a member of LaFayette Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Melvin, Leon and Lynwood.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wilma; his children Al (Vickie) Hurst of Biloxi, Mississippi, Mike Hurst and Veronica Fetner, both of LaFayette; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for the family will be held at noon Saturday, May 30, at LaFayette Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Howard presiding. No visitation is planned.
